The whole appearance of H2G2 has changed. It doesn't recognise me. I'm getting messagessaying some trained Hampsters or mice will be along to fix it soon.

Is it just me???

We have moved to a new system, Pliny, that is much more stable than Ripley, which was crumbling under the visitor numbers.
The old skins are still available, so you can set your preferences as you wish.

The button for "Preferences" and "personal space" are off on the right side of your screen. In my case, that means scrolling to the right, as the whole page doesn't fit on my screen. It's okay when I make the adjustments.

I just read in somebody's journal that the ads have gone live. He said they were unobtrusive. I thought I'd be nice and deactivated my adblock. However, I'm not willing to look at such a tasteless ad (link to screen shot), so I activated it again.

I remember that Brian said this could happen despite all their efforts to prevent it. I sent him a screen shot now.

That ad is just there to help those of us looking for nice, friendly girls.

I have just logged on to find that the whole site was FUBAR.

It has taken a while to get back to Alabaster.

I got kicked out a number of times.

The site didn't recognise me at least twice.

Please don't b*gg*r about with it any more.

How are these ads so accurately target at their audience?

I guess that means your thorn isn't really that tiny.

I must be really boring, I am only getting comuter ad's, which might have been useful a month ago when I was buying a new one, but now its too late guys.

I've had no adds now I have Alabaster back.

I suspect they know I'm a waste of their time.

Pity the rest of us couldn't be told this. Honestly, this is *exactly* the sort of thing that prevents stress and conflict in the community - telling us ahead of time what is going to happen and what the parameters and limits are.


The size of the ad looks big relative to the rest of the page (looking at Bel's link, I'm not in pliny). Not what I would call unobtrusive.

Mmm. Cosmentic Surgery. I'd better log in as The Mammoth and see what products they think I need in the Tundra!



There's a whole bunch of us online keeping a close eye on ads, and hoping that they settle down into being acceptable ones, so I hope we'll pick things up soon.
