A Conversation for How Not to Name Children

The unexpected pitfalls of wedlock

Post 1

Red (and a bit grey) Dog

On a related subject I know two women whose parents named them with sensible names careful not to break any of the rules in the article only to find later in life that fate had dealt them a terrible blow.

They were unfortunate to find love and marry the men of their dreams only to have to bear the punishing married names of Joy Trip and Norma Saxon. smiley - biggrin

There must be more out there somewhere.

Nbcdnzr, the dragon was slain, and there was much rejoicing

There is a couple my father likes to tell about (in the Netherlands) Mien Billekes and Mr. Jeuken married, to produce Mien Billekes-Jeuken. This translates (from dialect) as: My Buttocks-Itch

My husband and I dealt with it by keeping our own names after marriage (his name is Irish, mine is Chinese, every possible combination looked ridiculous). This also simplifies things at the bank, passport office, etc.

How about the gals who allegedly married the Stitz brothers, and became Mrs Norma and Mrs Gloria Stitz.

There's a lady in the Luton area who may try to sell you a gas fire. The name on her business card is "Chris P. Bacon".

Never, NEVER name a daughter 'Anita'.

They may marry a 'Dick' or a 'Koch'. smiley - laugh

We had a local (Houston, TX) sports newsperson named 'Anita Martini'. I kid you not! She was best known as the first female sportscaster to enter a Major League Baseball locker room.

But seriously... Don't name a daughter Anita. Why risk it.

Here's another one for you.

There's this REALLY popular fella around here, but I've never met him. But tourists are always looking for him. Maybe you know him...

Do you know where I can find Javier Port?

Posted elsewhere but *I* think it's funny. (Totally, completely, and utterly off topic.)

Julius Ceasar walks into a bar and orders a martinus. Bartender says, *You mean a martini?* Julius says, *If I wanted two I would order them*.

Just remembered one!

I work in a call centre, and there was a kid, bout 14 years old I think, bit posh'n'all and his surname was Bater. Not funny? Well...
His *title* wasn't Mr.
It wasn't Sir.
It wasn't Prince.

It was Master.
