There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Because last week someone gave me a $25 gift card for the local foodie supermarket, which also happens to be the place where I buy most of my beer. I went there this morning and guess what. They have a beer sale on this week - spend $25 on beer and you get 20% off smiley - cheers

Well, beer is a food group isn't it? Two if you get a fruit beer like Kriek smiley - tongueout And the monks manage to live on doppelbock during Lent. So it's a good job I bought a bottle of Salvator smiley - biggrin And that Guinness is going in a steak pie.

I rest my case.

Last night, during the Every Simpsons Ever marathon I happened to catch the episode where Bart inadvertently gets sloshed during the St. Paddy's day parade and they revert to prohibition in Springfield. The best of that episode is Homer standing on a pyramid of beer kegs after the prohibition is lifted and famously toasts, "Beer, the cause... and solution... to all of life's problems." smiley - cheers

Every Simpsons Ever? smiley - wow Is that like M*A*S*H*, where if you play them all back to back it'll last longer than actual Korean War did? Or is that an urban myth? And what Springfield-related thing would all the Simpsons episodes relate to, in terms of run time, I wonder?

There aren't many Simpsons moments I can remember - I haven't actually seen one for quite a while now, but I've always liked when Bart Milhouse bought an old abandoned factory for a dollar (I think) and Milhouse had to keep watch on it overnight. When Bart came back in the morning it was a pile of rubble, and he asked Milhouse what happened to it. "Well, first it started falling over... and then it fell over."

Which I suppose is also beer-related, if you've had plenty smiley - cheers

I just learned some French from an episode from 2001.

Le grenouille mange le pamplemousse. The frog eats the grapefruit.

Also, this is the episode when I first discovered the joys of Closed Captioning. In this episode, Bart and Milhouse steal Lisa's bicycle. Bart has a prison guard sized key ring. As he's looking for Lisa's bike lock key, he lists the keys as he goes through them.

"Front door, back door, Skinner's, Flander's, your house... Ah, Lisa's bike."

But 13 years ago there were two other keys listed on the CC. "Gun safe, school". smiley - evilgrin

Oh.,. I forgot to mention (while reading the CC) that I'm currently studying Spanish on Duolingo and because I'm still so early in the lessons with a very small vocabulary that some of my sentences are just as ridiculous. For example, "La araƱa come la manzana" - "The smiley - spider eats the smiley - apple".

I'm not kidding. That was an actual sentence in my lesson. smiley - laugh

When I briefly tried to teach myself esperanto, an early sentence I learned was "Ci ne estas tia virino." It sounds very pretty, "Shee nay ESTahs TEEah veeREEno."

It means "She's not that kind of girl." smiley - laugh
