Had any chance to watch the air show GB? Daughter took a trip to Cleethorpes today (just on the spur of the moment) and sent a photo to my phone of the crowded beach. As you know, I've been coming to Grimsby/Cleethorpes for over 50 years; and have never seen crowds like it! Then she texted me about the air show and I understood.

Yepsmiley - ok

Last year I went to the air show on the prom with my sister and it was so packed we could barely move. What with the other people's kiddie darlings screaming and being pushed and jostled about I didn't want to repeat the experience. So I was in my own garden when the planes went over. The Red Arrows flew right over my head. This was preceded by a Lancaster Bomber, which actually hurt my ears!

I managed to get some photos - they're on my Facebook http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152338585306185&set=pcb.10152338590766185

Wow, haven't been here for a while. Mum's still going and it's her 95th birthday in 3 weeks' time. I'm coping on my own at the moment as both the other two local siblings have jetted off on holiday for a fortnight, and the other did his usual half-day per 3 months visit 10 days ago. He can't afford a holiday this year as they're having a house extension built, I had to struggle to hold back the tears. I'm now on foot visiting Mum, 30 mins each way, but on the plus side I no longer do her shopping as I'm physically incapable. I've been told that the shopping was "topped up" by my younger brother before he went on holiday (yesterday) but I'm not there again until tomorrow morning so can't check up. I got Caroline (Ian's daughter) back last week to dye Mum's hair as I can't take her to the hairdresser anymore (which my sister wanted) as I haven't got a car. On Monday Mum had a bath given by the lunch carer and myself while we're still awaiting funding for an extra carer to do this. On Tuesday Mum got her feet attended to by her regular chiropodist smiley - footprintsso when I see her tomorrow hopefully she'll be feeling good as new.
smiley - footprintsand therein lies a tale. I booked the chiropodist and my brother left her a cheque at Mum's house, he asked me to let her know where it was as he was going on holiday. So I typed out a text message and sent it to the number I had stored in my mobile phone. That night I got a phonecall from her, asking what the message was, as I'd sent a text to her landline and the automated voice-thingy hadn't understood my accent correctly (I have an accent???) and all she could understand was "the cheque is in the breadbin". I actually had said this, but the rest, apparently, was gobbledygook. smiley - laughWe had a good laugh, which was some light relief.

smiley - islandI just had a weekend away in the Cotswolds to celebrate Ian's birthday and recharge my batteries, it was pure Heaven.smiley - zen

You do have an accent GB and it is delightful smiley - smiley

Those landline text messages are hilarious, more like a Dalek.

Glad you had a bit of a break, take care. Glad you got in touch again I was beginning to worry where you had gone!

That doesn't make sense. You typed a text message to her landline but it couldn't understand your accent? You text with an accent??? Or are you someone who still uses txt spk? smiley - yuk

I have a keypad on my mobile phone, so I don't have to punch 3 numbers for "C" etc. I've never used txt spk in my life! Maybe Justine couldn't understand the mechanical voice? I've only ever had one voice message on my answering machine sent via text, that was sent by me to test the system, when it was announced it was going to be Tom Baker smiley - tardis I sent myself an invitation for a trip in the Tardis the next time he was in my area and timezonesmiley - laugh

Busy day today. The domestic help comes for an hour on Monday mornings and I am usually there to use the assistance of the lunchtime carer to help me bathe Mum, (then I do her lunch as we always overshoot her half hour) but I've booked Ian's daughter Caroline to come and perm Mum's hair this afternoon, so I'm going round earlier than normal, will feed Mum first, while dodging the domestic help.

It's Mum's birthday on Wednesday, she'll be 95. Mum brother & sister-in-law were coming over but I told them to come Thursday instead to save the disruption to her normal routine. She'll be at the Curzon Centre as usual on Wednesdaysmiley - diva but my sister brought a birthday cake round on Saturday for her to take with her, for all her friends there. As I'm sure the escort won't be able to manage Mum and the smiley - cake and lock up the house, I'm going round to help, hopefully will be allowed on the smiley - bus and then I can dish out the cake. But that's Wednesday, let's get on with today first, my hovering needs doing before I walk to Mum'ssmiley - run
