Regarding that Soylent stuff. When I first heard about it, it reminded me of C.H.O.N. food from Frederick Pohl's Gateway books. The premise of Gateway is we discover an intergalactic switching station in orbit around Venus (iirc). The Earth is in a dreadful state so some folks are more than willing to go out and live at the gateway and randomly jump into these wormholes which can transport you to literally any random place in the universe and if you're lucky you survive the trip and bring back alien technology from the unknown creators of the gateway. The food they eat is manufactured from the basic raw molecular building blocks, Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen. CHON.
They're able to greatly tailor the taste and texture to simulate all kinds of food, but everyone knows it's not as good as the real stuff.

Reminds me of a problem in biological chemistry, name the first six chemical elements, in order of quantity required in terms of atoms, that contribute to terrestrial biology:
Hydrogen
Oxygen
Carbon
Nitrogen
Phosphorus
Calcium
Name the next six.
Meanwhile, there's apparently a whole ocean of Stanley Miller's primordial soup underlying the ice on Europa and the stuff also occurs on Mars and elsewhere.

I would imagine that iron and potassium would be in there somewhere, given that doctors test for those elements in connection with medical conditions. Also, plants require significant quantities of potassium, which means it must play a part in both plant and animal biology.
Maybe zinc and magnesium? Deficiencies in those can cause health problems.

steer clear of these elements
A typical "" is composed of about 59 percent nitrogen, 21 percent hydrogen, 9 percent carbon dioxide, 7 percent methane and 4 percent oxygen. Only about one percent of a fart contains hydrogen sulfide gas and mercaptans, which contain sulfur, and the sulfur is what makes "" stink.
