Thanks Willem - I really enjoyed reading about the evolution of ratites.
I've seen a few tv shows on New Zealand fauna, including kiwis and the (non-ratite) Kakapo. These are species clinging on to their existence in a tiny corner of the world, and we have to be thankful to New Zealanders for preserving them as zealously as they have.
