Apologies to none-sports fans, but I see that England's greatest ever Test skipper has just died. I'm talking about the great Brian Close of course, any Yorkshire stereotype you want to come up with, Close fitted the bill, dour, stubborn as a mule, completely fearless, hard as nails, I bet the Grim Reaper was shaking in his sandals! God Bless Brian.

No doubt more love in a punt beers...
I somehow think the competition authorities might have something to say about it.

I really don't care if Bud-InBev buys Miller. I can't stand either Budweiser or Miller Lite, but it's all those other smaller breweries that they gobble up that upset me. They're known to destroy once great breweries. Bass is undrinkable in the States now. Whether you like Bass or not, their red triangle was the oldest trade mark in the world and now, at least here in the States, it actually tastes worse than Budweiser. And they've bought so many beers that it's really hard to know if you're drinking one of their beers or not.

I read in the Times today they've resurrected some Agatha Christie plays that were broadcast on BBC Light Programme. One they say was last broadcast in 1949, this can't be right cos I can clearly remember listening to it in the mid 1950's, sitting with my sister,it frightened us stupid at the time, the last act was a deceived woman hammering a nail into her partner's skull as he sat paralysed by a drug she had given him, she was giggling maniacally as she hammered it in, she had been hanging a picture, I remember it quite clearly, we didn't sleep well! The play was called 'Butter in a Lordly Dish' apparently, coming to a radio near you soon. Not for the faint hearted!

BBC Radio are running a season of shows for her 125th birthday (seems a strange number to celebrate, but there you are)
Details here, but you'll need to click on the pictures to see what each show is about.

Before backing the propaganda and misinformation campaign of climate change denial, Exxon scientists actively studied the effects of anthropocentric carbon dioxide on the atmosphere and in the oceans. Their results confirmed those of other climate scientists around the world. Exxon budgeted a million dollars to a science program aboard one of their tankers to determine how quickly the oceans could absorb the surplus CO2 to determine how much more fossil fuel burning could be tolerated before it would have to stop.
This was in 1977.
A decade later, they went on the offense to obfuscate and deny all that science.

NASA probably don't help themselves if they say things like:
"There is no existing evidence that an asteroid or any other celestial object is on a trajectory that will impact Earth. In fact, not a single one of the known objects has any credible chance of hitting our planet over the next century."
along with:
."NASA does track about 13,000 near-Earth asteroids but accepts this figure is only about 2% of those out there and it has no idea of the whereabouts to the remaining 98% of them"
You couldn't make it up.
But the Daily Express could.

Huh?
Taken as a universal of human language this raises a question as to whether other animals have the same word.
For example, how would a cat, a dog or a horse say that?
For dogs, its a brief whine or , for a horse, a short whinney differing from the whine of the dog mainly in pitch, or a .
If you scratched your head and thought, "I'm sure cats have that word.", well, neither am I, though they do have a .

Nice typo in the Daily Express article.
"Dutch man Frank Hoogerbeets got thousands of views for a YouTube video predicting a devastaining ear"
Devastaining? (That'll make a mess).
Ear?

Yeah... If VW felt it had to cheat to abide by emissions tests, what are the chances other car makers did the same. VW has always seemed pretty adept at making efficient diesel engines. If their small diesels were actually putting out 10 to 40 times the allowed emissions, how likely is it that other car makers were actually doing better?
