Time Travel Photo Journal #1: The View from My Mother's Window

The Memphis-Arkansas Bridge

I was born here. No, not on the bridge. But near it. In a hospital. I can't swear my mother could see the bridge out her window, but she was close.

This is the Memphis-Arkansas Bridge. Built in 1949, it carries highway traffic across the Mississippi River. It's a mile long. It's a pretty cool bridge, but it wasn't built to withstand an earthquake. So we hope the New Madrid Fault behaves itself.
