When I was in elementary school I played Super Mario Kart with my friends on the tiny TV in their parents' bedroom. When I was 13 I bought my own Nintendo 64 and of course I got Mario Kart 64. Today we have all of the games at home and I still love playing them.

I really enjoyed Mario Kart DS one Christmas, as it was great fun playing with my family, and the graphics are so funny too smiley - ok

Interesting how the game evolved, and interesting about the games that came after the DS version smiley - cool

Thanks for reading!

I've never played the games for handheld consoles, but I've never seen a bad Mario Kart game. And yes, they are great fun to play with others, that's one of the very strong parts of the series.

You can also see a great leap in technology and graphics.

Excellent entry – definitely a subject that deserves a place in the Guide.smiley - smiley
Although at heart a Sega fan, I've played the Super Mario Kart, Double Dash, Wii and DS versions. Is it worth mentioning that you could play Double Dash on a Wii (all you had to do was plug in controllers into the side of the Wii console) and similarly the Advance version of Mario Kart could play in the original version of the DS (before they eliminated the Advance game slot)?

It's certainly influenced other games as you've said – 'Crash Team Racing' for the PlayStation, Sega's 'Sonic Drift' to name just two.

I just had another read of this, and it is looking good to me smiley - biker

A few minor points:

"speed buffs" - perhaps a bit of explanation of this term is needed?

"customisability (??? is that a word ???)" - I presume the bit in brackets should be deleted - customisability is a good word smiley - biggrin

"29 karts, ATVs and bikes" - what is an ATV?

smiley - ok

ATV - Associated Television - was the company owned by Lew Grade that bought the Beatles' back catalogue, after Lew Grade's ITC (Incorporated Television Company) merged with ABDC (Associated Broadcasting Development Company), although it still often used the ITC name. ATV programmes include 'The Muppet Show' and 'Sapphire and Steel'.

ATV is also an all-terrain vehicle.
