Here's a walk I did a few months ago that was a little more testing than most.

This sounds an interesting, if strenuous walk.
You say that the Boardwalk can give you opportunities to see some wildlife. Can you give any examples?
One point You say the climb is 'Eqivalent to climbing a 20 storey building' twice- once in'The Spinc Walk' and again in 'The Climb'
You might want to add a few more links.
Eg on monasteries, you could link to A7242608 - the Rule of St Benedict.
On coppicing you could link to A87783673 -British Wooodlands, a Brief History

Thanks MVP
1. I've put in suggested wildlife:
it crosses marshland and offers an opportunity to see some wildlife, such as deer, rabbits, herons, damselflies and dragonflies.
2. I've removed the second reference to the 20-storey building.
3. I've added the links you suggested.

An enjoyable entry.
As you've mentioned that you can get here by bus from Dublin, I was wondering what sort of distance or roughly how long that journey would take you?

I've added that it's a 90-minute journey by the St Kevin's bus.

I enjoyed reading this and even looked up pictures on google.
Are you sure that 600 steps is 20 storeys? (asks the architect) My own calculation based on local circumstances is that it's rather 30 storeys. It usually is 20 steps from one storey to the next. Also if it's 86m high and you take an everage of 30 meters per storey the result would be 29 storeys. But if you say dimensions are different in Ireland I accept that.

A story is usually defined as 10 feet or 120 inches. At least in Florida our building code requires that each riser can not exceed 7 inches so that means that there are 18 risers in a story, with 17 treads, or steps.
17 x 20 = 340, if we allow an extra step on each floor we get 18 x 20 equals 360 steps.
Forgive me for using arcane measurements, but that is what I work with on a daily basis, I just finished laying out six stairways this morning for a school.
Of course if you are comparing the walk to a ramp that is a totally different number of steps. our ramps are limited to a maximum rise of one inch per foot. 20 stories equals 200 feet, with 12 inches to the foot that gives us a run of 2,400 feet. Without bothering with the trigonometry, and allowing that the path is not as shallow as a handicap ramp, or as steep as a stairway, 600 steps may not be far off.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a "standard storey". In my own house the storey height is 2.6m (8 foot 6 inches), but I know that this is very low compared with offices.
I measured the storey height in my office and it is 3.85m (12 foot 6 inches) so I used this figure. That makes the 600 steps the equivalent of 23 storeys, but I rounded it to 20 storeys for simplicity.
I'm happy to use a figure of 30 storeys, particularly since it will make the climb seem more formidable, and it is indeed formidable.

I didn't actually count the 600 steps, but I've seen them referred to as 600 in other people's descriptions, and they're not as tall as normal staircase risers since they are based on railway sleepers, so 600 seems about right.

I've changed the description to a 30-storey building.

You are right of course, office buildings often have higher storeys than houses for living... it depends.
