I've never been to Syros but you've made it sound lovely! 
Is the population of the island really only 20,000, although it runs to a city and a number of villages? If so, the tourist trade must swell the population considerably in the season.

Yes the local poulation is small. I've been trying to finf out how many tourists visit Syros each year.
It's been nominated as one of the two European Capitals of Culture for 2021!
