A quick (under 2,000 words) look at one of the silliest television series of all time, but a guilty pleasure.

Hiya BB, I've seen a few of these episodes, and yes, the plots are silly but I enjoyed them nonetheless. I did wonder how Veronica kept her hair blonde without access to hair dye, and the same line of thought goes for Marguerite with her perfectly made-up face, but maybe there was an Avon Lady visiting between episodes
I laughed out loud when Marguerite lost her treasure to the pirates. I didn't like the Jack the Ripper episode at all. One of the strangest was when the ghost flew over them in his dirigible, and the ghost freed himself from eternal damnation by tricking them into taking his place on board, and Malone returning as a spook. I haven't seen where he "is strangely arrogant and finally wanders off" but I won't rush to catch up.

Tweaked
I agree that the Jack the Ripper episode seemed very much against the tone of the rest of the series and wasn't particularly enjoyable, but fortunately the other episodes make up for it. But you're right about the female characters' appearance – I did wonder how that Spanish lady who had lived there for 400 years had managed to spend all that time in the jungle without her bright red lacy dress either fading or getting torn to pieces. (She was one of the few female characters throughout the whole series to actually wear a reasonable amount of clothing).
