Another enjoyable read which gives us a glimpse of the other side of the worldsmiley - ok

I had a read through and perhaps I was too distracted by the pictures, but the only thing I spotted to amend was: 'exam know as the'

Perhaps more temples should be dedicated to Marital Artssmiley - silly

I can't help but wonder how many steps there are on Ladder Street... Sounds an exhausting climb to walk up!smiley - puff

Thanks for spotting the typo.

I didn't count the steps. It's not as bad as it sounds.

Do you know if both temples and the Assembly Hall were all built at the same time? If the complex was built between 1847 and 1862 was one building (possibly the Man Mo temple if that is what the complex is known as) built first, with the complex expanding bit by bit over 15 years?

They all look as if they were built at the same time - their rooves are virtually identical.

I looked up the Mid-Levels Escalator, and it looks great fun – if I was going there I'd definitely go that way just for the joy of travelling on it.smiley - ok
C'mon, who hasn't travelled to London just to spend a day riding up and down the escalators in the Underground, eh?

I did travel the 750m of the escalator system. It's made of a lot of short escalators so that people can get on at any point. The big escalator in Chongqing on the other hand is a single journey of 112m.

This is fascinating. smiley - smiley

Presumably this temple is a fairly typical Toaist temple?

I wondered if you needed to include all the material on Toaism, but this section is more informative than the EG article to which you have linked.

As a former UK civil servant, I was particularly interested in the Imperial entrance exam. It sounds a lot harder to get into the Chinese civil service but then the pay was obviously better! smiley - smiley

I haven't been in any other Taoist temples so I don't know if this is typical. I'll try and find out.

Thank you. smiley - redwine

I couldn't find much on the web about other Taoist temples, but I assume that this one is fairly typical.
