Starting to get unknown error has occured when in goo

Peanut, can you describe the steps you took when you go this?

These bugs are starting to drive me mad.

I click on link in my favourites interstingstats/frontpage/Ask, read a bit, then sign in

when I sign in I get to my space in Pliney so go to prefences and update to get back to goo and post to conversations

quite often after signing in I get 'can't display this page' then I just click on any of my favourite links to h2g2 and I am signed in good to go, in goo

this time I got that error message.

Wasn't having a bar of goo (conversationally wise) so went to Pliney to file an error report. Signed out.

Prior to error message, I had got 'unknown error' message I think twice over 24 hours

When I got the error report, although I could read front page etc I couldn't read any conversations, just got unknown error has occured

When you're reading initially, what skin are you using?

And when you sign in, is there a "remember me" box?

Ah, then I think I may have found part of the problem.

If you sign out completely and then go to Pliny and sign in, you should find the new login page with the remember me box. This is a bit more reliable than the older one. For a start, tick remember me and it will. For quite a while. Saving all that tedious mucking about.

I don't mind the tedious way round. But if that is why I am getting errors like this, then it is me, so shall I not report them?

Keep reporting them until we've fixed them

I'm not entirely sure it is this that's causing it, but it's the avenue of debugging I'm heading down at the moment.

I have just thought of another thing, I get two sorts of unknown error.

When the disk is getting full I get 'unknown error has occured' on a white page' or disk is full messages

The other 'unknown error has a occured' comes up in goo. It was this type of message I was getting this time

I don't know if that means anything or not

The disk full error is starting to become more common, and we are working on it.

The other error is down to the way that Ripley handles cookies. It's kinda weird, and we're trying to find some patches that'll keep it ticking over. But it is starting to eat more and more into the time for new development.
