>Y

You heartily welcome Kate aboard for any help she wishes to give.

Great to have you aboard. Right, the project isn't due to start for a couple of days, but I can't see the entry police getting too worked up if I make a start now. Right, what I'm basically looking for is people to give me anything and everything they can on the subject, from bits they think need menitonig in articles, through to personal memories of favourite adventures.

As you are a sub-ed, there is also the question; do you want to be the official sub-editor for this project?

Articles are shaping up fairly nicely; I especially liked your analysis of puzzles in text adventures. Still thinking on stuff that you're not including that I would, will let you know when I come up with something smiley - winkeye

There's a site, the link to which I've since lost, and I know it's moved a few times anyway - BAF's guide to the Interactive Fiction archive... It's a really nice review site that reviews games from the various comps, etc, and has spot-on critiques, as far as I can tell (ie; I can download what they have rated a 5 star game and be guaranteed to like it; I've also learned that if they rated it 3 stars, I'm not going to be thrilled with it)

It's worth a look, if you're trolling for links anyway smiley - winkeye

After a brief trip into h2g2 Moderation hell, I've got the page back up again smiley - smiley. Apparently, h2g2 doesn't like ftp links, and it needed 5 e-mails to tell me that.

Anyway, I've clocked up 32 links today. I'll do some more tomorrow smiley - smiley.

Oh wow!smiley - biggrin

Lots of links, thank you.
Glad you think it's shaping up okay, most of the material so far has been me writing down random thoughts and the main points from a few articles I've read.

Robert

I'm gonna write some reviews of the sites, then go off on another web trawl, then get the article failed again, etc.

Hello, gentleman smiley - ok

You know... I don't think text adventures were very big with us females... Of course, neither were computers, or video games, in general, back then. Ah, always was an odd smiley - chick

Let me know as articles get ready for subbing smiley - winkeye

smiley - cheers

Just started playing another game, btw - the Mulldoon Legacy. Very well done. My favorite game out of the IF comps every year has to be Christminster though... What a well written game! Although, being British would have been to a little bit of an advantage, as some of the jargon confused me a bit. NPCs galore (and excellently done ones) and a parser that could pretty much take anything I threw at it.

Oh well, enough gushing... smiley - winkeye

I keep meaning to start Christminster, I've heard it's very good. I've got a copy on my hard-disk, I just havn't had much free time lately. Must take a look at it.

It's really very good... Not at all easy (not at *all*) which of course, is a big thing for me. The harder, the better, so long as it's not arbitrarily hard.

There's another, by Andrew Plotkin, that I really liked... I can't remember the name at the moment. It was very well written though. smiley - biggrin

Another game I *really* enjoyed was 'The Edifice' by Lucian P. Smith. Excellently done, I have to say... smiley - erm Just went browsing through BAF's and have about 3 more games to try out smiley - winkeye

Ahhh the addiction.
