Hi...smiley - smiley

For "I speak english", it would be better to say "je parle anglais" instead of "je parle l'anglais"...

"I am pregnant" would be "je suis enceinte"...

Great page anyway...smiley - cool

Hi!

I always tended to think that you needed the article for something like that, but I could be wrong...

The 'je suis pleine' was one of those things my french teacher taught us NOT to confuse with 'j'ai pleine' at the table... I guess it's more of a slang way of putting it smiley - smiley

Oooooops... It was "Do you speak English?" and "Parlez-vous Anglais?"...smiley - blush

Another thing while i'm here... Shouldn't "Bonsoir" be in one word instead of two as in "Bon soir"?!... "Bonne soiree" [sorry can't do the accent yet] and "Bonne nuit" would be in two words, but not "Bonsoir"...
[i'm not awake yet, so if i'm wrong i will blame my lack of sleep...smiley - whistle]

Blimey! Didn't realise I'd done that! You're right, y'know... most of that first block was Spiff's, which is why it's a different way round to the rest..smiley - erm

Actually, I don't suppose you can think of a formal way to ask someone their name that isn't such a mouthful, could you<?> smiley - smiley

I realised where the confusion about "parlez-vous l'Anglais?" instead of "parlez-vous Anglais?" comes from... it's because we say "j'etudie l'Anglais"... Easy mistake to make...smiley - smiley

To ask someone's name without having to be stucked with the "comment vous appelez-vous?" mouthful, we could go to the simpler "vous vous appelez comment?" or go to the more literal "quel est votre nom?!"...smiley - biggrin

I will add a few things tomorrow [i'm working tonight unfortunately] but, it might help if all the french expressions are on one side and the english ones are on the other side...smiley - smiley

Talk soon...smiley - surfer

I know the conversation has ended a long time ago but I just want to say that "je suis pleine" is not really slang, it's just that it's mostly use for animals, and obviously nobody wants to speak of herself like she would of an animal
