Zappa Plays Zappa - 2nd round review

0 Conversations

Zappa Plays Zappa is the name of a tour/show featuring Dweezil Zappa playing his father's, Frank Zappa's, that is, music. It started in its first formation in late 2005. A second tour began in 2007.

Zappa Plays Zappa, also widely known under the abbreviation ZPZ, is - in my opinion - the closest you can get to the original, despite or because of the involved genetics, whatever you prefer. This was the general consensus among the fans in the audience.

ZPZ shows of the last year featured FZ alumni, Steve Vai, terry Bozzio and Napoleon Murphy Brock. This year it was Ray White.

A long-time Zappa-show veteran said "On a scale from 0 to 10, this is a 9.999 - the only thing missing being Frank himself." And even that has - in a way - been accomplished. Franks vocals and guitar tracks (and the accompanying video projection) were featured on at least 3 songs during the show. Vey emotional moments.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
