Broadband Usage

I just received e-mails from BT saying that I used 2GB of data in 2 days 
The last time I received such e-mails, I had been playing GuildWars online, so could understand it, but this month I'm not sure why my usage has gone so high.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a tablet computer as well as my laptop, but I have used them less this month because of being out every day 9-5...

Do you access your BT account on-line? If you do you should be able to view your usage under the My BT tab - scroll down past the phone info. I can't check cos I'm on unlimited so it tells me I don't need to monitor my usage.
Do you watch catchup TV on-line or use something like Amazon Instant or Netflix? Sorry if that's kind of obvious, but that's what did it for me and prompted me to go unlimited.

Thanks for your help, deb - I checked My BT, and it is "new and improved" so all it showed me was a bar chart with one bar saying I have used 8GB in September, which is not very helpful!
I just now checked my tablet, though, and that does have a proper Broadband Usage gauge. I see I did use more data than usual for catchup TV, as I had to download the BBC Player before watching Doctor Who, but it seems the main problem was with my tablet's internet browser - it updated itself and then ran some image-heavy webpages in the background so it used 4GB this last week...
I've updated the settings so it shouldn't go doing things when I'm not looking, and hopefully the usage should decrease sufficiently for the next couple of days...

Yes! I like that too. I had run out of ideas and needed a fresh view of the problem, which deb very kindly supplied 
I missed Doctor Who again this week, but I will wait until October to watch it on catchup, just in case

I've got the latest episode recorded, will probably watch it tomorrow. Usually I can't wait but this season I'm not really feeling it. Probably just getting used to Peter Capaldi.
