Just trying to think of the best forum for it (or whether or not we should just 'create' a new one?).

I'm interested enough in the craft of writing that I try to write a miniature gem of a story every day. Agonizing over a few dozen words is worth it if and when the result is satisfying. Then the next day comes and I want another dose.....

Do I want to talk about writing? Not at the moment, but maybe eventually.

Are these your 42 word stories? They're very clever. I don't think I'd come up with enough ideas.

Ideas are about all I *do* have sometimes. It seems easier to do thumbnail sketches without having to flesh them out. It's the long stories and novels that take a Herculean effort.

If I want to do thumbnail sketches, I do haikus.They work more like snapshots:

Gardens fill with groups
of people sitting on grass
enjoying the sun.

I also write haikus, but haven't written any in a while.

Why not?

Because the thread where I write them has been inactive for a long time. But since I mentioned not writing any, someone added a haiku to that thread, so I have now written another one.

Is that a thread anyone can post to? I've been hanging out on this site for ages and I still get lost on it.

I can get lost in the hall between my bedroom and the bathroom.

Almost always in the middle of the night when I wake from a disorienting dream and need to use the facilities. But being half-asleep makes me move slower, so rarely is there a problem.
