Mr. Jesse

Just a note. I had heard of Hugh Lory (sp?) playing Arthur. I may have the name wrong but it's the dad from Stuart Little and Blackadder's bumbling sidekick in Blackadder (name Baldrick?). I know my information is a bit sketchy, but I do think he would make a good Arthur; he has that nice naive, confused, innocent feeling. Just a thought.

Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again

Michael Palin could do it... he does some magnificent acting that's overpowered by the silliness he's casted as. He may just be too old.

Hugh Lory could do it too... he's got good timing.

I think Ford might have to be a fresh face, someone not seen much before.

I like the idea of Trillian as an intellegent beautiful brunett. Wasn't she American in one version? No, wait, I'm thinking of the Dirk Gently books smiley - blush. Well, if she were American, Sandra Bullock could play her. smiley - laugh

Zaphod should be the easiest one to cast somehow... he's not a terribly deep charactor, just an incredibly hoopy frood.

Chadsmoor Charlie

Just setting the record straight...Baldrick ("I have a cunning plan") was played by Tony Robinson. Hugh Laurie played (eg) the upper class brave stiff upper lip soldier in Blackadder Goes Forth, and the Prince Regent (I think) in the regency Blackadder (can't remember the name)

Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again

Well, Nicole Kidman makes me want to puke.

Jonny Depp... I always want to see him in a movie, but... no. I wouldn't be SO dissapointed if he got it... I do like Jonny Depp smiley - loveblush.

Umm, but Stephen Moore is the only Marvin. You're right on that score

Nicole.... interesting one.

Who does the voice for Eeyore in the D*sney Winne the Pooh movies? Mebbe not quite the right voice, but I expect that Marvin will be CGI or something near that, so really only the voice will be needed.

And is Stephen Moore the guy who voices Death on the Discworld movies?

WAIT A SECOND!

Hold everything.

There's Discworld MOVIES?!?!? Don't make fun of me, I just recently discovered Pratchett... but there's MOVIES?!?!?

How about Liz Hurley for Trillian ?

(Catherine Zeta Jones might be nice, too...)

Mr. Jesse, I think Hugh Laurie would be great as Arthur.

And if they cast Liz Hurley or Nicole Kidman as Trillian I'm going to hang myself. Trillian's meant to be "Beautiful, charming, and devastatingly intelligent".

Beauty? Depends.
Charming? I'd like to hit both of them. Hard.
Intelligent? I haven't seen a lot of evidence of it. smiley - ill

I'm contemplating how well the girl who played Electra in "The World is Not Enough" might be.

If you're a discworld fan, hop along to Pratchett's Anonymous, I set it up, there's a link on my space. There are movies indeed, animated unfortunately. I have to say I'm not a big fan- I prefer the version I get in my head and some of the pictures I had of Soul Music have been permanently destroyed. But other people seem to love them. The soundtrack to Soul Music is it's saving grace, as is the voice of Death.

Well, I'll have to agree, if Kidman is casted, I'll have to blow my brains out. Someone who is young sould be Trillian. Maybe a rookie actress...
and Bill Murray for Arthur

Thin Lizzy

If poor old Richard Harris hadn't died, I reckon he'd have been really good as Slartibartfast. As for Marvin, how about saving some expenses on training a person to be a robot and just use one of the actors that worked the daleks? After all the years of "EXTERMINATE!" jokes they'll be manically depressed enough by now. Otherwise, for the voice I would recommend Terry Jones (The ex-Python).

This is probably a long shot, but I think it's well worth some consideration. Maybe they should use CGI animation to create everyone, and that way most of the writing and script could be pure adams and all they'd really need is a voice, at which case anyone would do.

>Eddie Murphy would be good, I think it would be refreshing for zaphod to be African American.

This is a joke, right? Please tell me this is a joke?

If not, it should be. Who gives a rat's arse if it is refreshing? (Or in other words politically correct?). Again, who gives a rat's arse whether Eddie Murphy is African American, American African or whatever political definition you might like to give him? DNA was definitely not interested in any civil disturbances in America and hadn't the least interest in what people were calling themselves this week in the good old Hew Hess of Hay when he wrote the Hitchikers books.

The point of casting people in this movie should not be their skin colour. Whether or not an alien happens to fit with your definition of "refreshing" skin colour is irrelevant. The casting should be based solely on talent, completely on talent and one hundred percent on talent. Whether or not you are Scottish-Australian, Australian-Dutch, African-American, Portugese-Swedish, pink, purple, green, black, brown, white or cream with purple polka dots should not enter into the casting process one whit.

Although, of course, if it is cast in Hollywood, it will. *Trying not to retch*

The point is that whatever their skin colour and whatever their background, if they can act the effing part, I hope they get it. If it is simply refreshing to have them in the part, I hope to goodness they don't.

(But they will).

As for Trillian

Trillian is meant to be gorgeous, bold and smart. How about Charlize Theron?
