I didn't love bagels, but I tried this recipe.

Even though I'm a bread novice, they turned out well! I had to cook them for 25 minutes to get them to brown nicely on top, but once they were ready, I was very impressed. Far superior to shop bought ones indeed - very tasty

I'm glad you liked them! They really are so much simpler to make than people think. I think it's the idea of poaching them that seems weird, and complicated. And generally making bread, and getting it to rise/prove puts people off too.

But it's not too hard, and with little effort you get great, fresh bread
