The h2g2 Poem - Inspiration

Inspiration

If you seek inspiration
walk from your mundane hotel room,
observe shadows in doorways,
imagine shamanic figures
cloaked in black and raven feathers.
Find a picture of the solar system,
transform planets turning round the sun
into mandalas woven with music
and shimmering colour.
Look at faded stained glass windows,
dream of walking in the chapel
with a little dog or white piglet,
planning windows in blue and gold.
Know that even ordinary streets
yield to vistas of ancient hill forts,
or hide carvings of breadfruit
telling stories of mutiny at sea.
A sleeping piglet.
