A Conversation for How to Boil an Egg

Temperature-sensitive egg timer

Post 1

Paul Johnson

We have a really nifty temperature sensitive egg timer that takes all the guesswork out of boiling eggs.

Basically its an egg-shaped object with a temperature sensitive layer in the middle that turns black when it reaches the temperature that an egg goes solid at. There are marks for soft and hard, so you can judge how hard your egg is very accurately. Because it is temperature sensitive it also compensates if the water temperature is a bit wrong, such as at altitude.

I'm only sorry I don't remember where we got it. It was a cookery shop of some sort.

Paul.
