There appears to be nothing I can do about it. He won't take a bottle so it is always down to me to go in. I'm a zombie!

The eldest is a crack-of-dawn merchant too, between them they are killing me.

I hate anyone who tells me their baby slept through from 3 months smiley - winkeye

If it helps, my best friend's baby slept right through for the first few months after he came out of hospital (he was three months prem and didn't come home till around his due date).

Now he's two, rarely sleeps before 9pm and is up before 7, often only having four or five hours at a time and then being cranky all day. Mum and dad are not impressed but somewhat powerless to do anything about it... he's a very determined young lad and when he dont wanna sleep, he dont! (he actively winds himself up, a trick he picked up as a baby, moving his body and his head to wake himself up if he feels himself dropping off smiley - laugh)

You must be shattered!!

My son is now 3 and he too used to wake up every couple of hours for what seemed like forever, we found out 6 months ago after glancing at his throat that he had the most enormous tonsils which kept getting infected, which now explains alot of other things too (fussy eating, delayed speech, bad speech sounds amongst a load of things) We have since had them out (nervewracking but best thing we ever did)and he is a much happier healthier little boy who won't stop gabbling and no longer throws major wobblies and apart from monsters in the closet he almost never wakes up anymore.

Large tonsils or and adenoids can cause frequent night waking.... worth ruling out at least!

another thing that can be really helpful with bad sleepers is Cranial Osteopathy - especially good following traumatic births, My son was really disturbed after each of the first 3 treatments for one night only and then after the 4th treatment slept through the night for the first time ever, although it didn't solve all the problems it really helped with his overall moods and ability to settle back to sleep. I also know alot of people this has worked really well for.

Hope this helps in someway, although i hope its not tonsils, at least you can maybe rule something out. Health Visitors should also be able to help identify a problem.

Trust your instincts, i always knew something was up just had no idea what!

sorry for the length!!

I am shattered! Amazing how you learn to jusyt keep functioning though. Robyn, they all try to kill their parents through exhaustion at some point. Am hoping we're getting it out of the way early...

He screams a *lot* in the day, think it is frustration that he can't physicaqlly do what he wants yet so I get to see his tonsils fairly often.smiley - wah They look fine to me.smiley - winkeye

I'm not going rant about cranial osteopathy, other than to say I wasted £120 on it out of desperation when my eldest had reflux and once I regained a bit of sanity I came to the conclusion it was quackery.

My boys are challenging as babies, I'll never understand people who love this phase compared to when they are older and more fun!smiley - biggrin

Both mine had reflux too. I think it really aggravates the feeding all the time business.

I can relate to what you're saying Kelli - it's a source of amazement and envy to me how some babies sleep all night so young.

Anyway, currently baby is sleeping impeccably. Four year old is having a lot of nightmares though - perhaps linked to starting school next month.

What I should have put into this is sleeping when they sleep - I've started heading off at 10:30, just to give myself an extra margin if I do get woken up a lot.
