I usually delete the unedited version when somethingf achie ves pending status.
So since the PR thread was under that article I wanted to make sure I could find it for future reference. If we had been under posts in this thread I would have seen it but we went over so I moved it from post #1 so it would still be visible for future reference.

I don't know the first thing about this topic, but can someone check this for me?
"During this time, as Richard saw his records climbing the charts, certain white supremacy groups and fundamental conservatives tried in vain to stop him from getting air time. They particularly made no headway in New York City where Alan Freed not only played Richard's music, but also invited people like Buddy Holly or Little Richard to play live at functions there and paid them the same as he would a white person."
He paid Buddy Holly as much as he would have paid a white person? I thought Buddy Holly was white!
Did the submitter mean Chuck Berry, perhaps?

That is probably what was meant. I am quite sure the source was the biography mentioned in the text.
It is surprizing that this was not caught during PR.

Any chance you could post a correction to <./>Feedback-Editorial</.> once you've worked out a replacement for Buddy Holly?

I don't have access to any of the sources in the article, but the Wikipedia entry on Alan Freed mentions that he played records by Little Richard and Chuck Berry - hence my suggestion above. I can see how "Chuck Berry" and "Buddy Holly" might get mixed up. We'll need a more authoritative source than that, though

A list of people who played in the Apollo Theatre says
Buddy Holly played August 16,1957
so if we delete the last clause of that sentence we should be OK.\
