A Conversation for Cladistics

'Object-orientated evolution'

Post 1

Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner)

Is it a mere coincidence that the concept of cladistics reminds me of a very strict and clean object-orientated programming, whereas the classic system introduced by Carolus Linnaeus is more like 'wild coding', which works excellent in most cases, but causes a hell of work if you have to thoroughly understand and verify it?

Nice analogy. I don't think it works entirely, but the parallels are there as you point out. And perhaps it's not a coincidence - ordered minds tend to do well in all scientific disciplines, so any field in which structure works well will tend to attract continual refinements in that direction.
