Possibly the best place in the world for a Hot Chocolate?
On December 27th 2000, the coldest day of the year when
everywhere (except the Island) was getting snow, I walked along the
pier to the ferry - which was very cold - and I got there just in time to
see the Shanklin leave. I had a 20 minute wait for the next cat, so I
decided to get a cup of Hot Chocolate from the shop on the pier
head to warm myself up with - and it was divine.
The best Hot Chocolate I've ever had.

In 2023 the tramway pier was rebuilt for pedestrians.
The pier is also being used as a biodiversity project to see if it can encourage
