So are these things difficult to build then? and can you still build one for £250 as the book title says.

Difficult question. It depends on your level of ability/previous knowledge. Some have built them in a couple of months, while others take years over them. Consider it the biggest lego project you will ever face smiley - winkeye

The record for building one at the moment stands at just under £50(uk pounds), but there are many issues that will make the more "normal" builder spend from £1-3000. Tied up in this is the SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) test brought in by the government since the original publication, and the cost of buying shock absorbers new (about £350), and the cost can mount up.

It is commonly held that the more time you spend sourcing second hand "bargain" parts, or manufacturing your own parts, the smaller your budget will be. The other side of this is that many Locost builders have now started supplying parts to the rest of us, and it is now possible to cut out the welding entirely and buy some of the parts, most importantly the complete chassis. Expect your budget to be anything up to £4000 if you take this route.

Feel free to reply if you want to know more.

Just wondered that's all.

Right now I have no plans on building one of these, ever smiley - smiley

I guess that you've either built one or are in the process of doing so.
