Gosh!That brought back some memories!!I went to boarding school there,at The Croft,only for a short time,I was only 7,it was during the war and Bristol was getting hammered by the Hun!!Around 1940 I think.Can remember walking in "crocodile" thru the park and some local louts had tipped a tin of red paint over the statue of Shakespear,such sacriledge,we thought it funny at the time tho'.Beautiful place,super country,such a shame that hunting has been stopped,Boxing Day Meets were spectacular.Tearing away at the fabric of English country life--------oh!well,such is life!
