Hi!
Wonderful article there. But I want to add, that Vienna is changing right now. The new millenium has starte a new wave of constructions. There is the 'Millenium City' the 'Haas Haus' the new 'MQ - MuseumsQuartier' and besides of the new skyscraping towers and stuff there are loads of new bars and locations popping up like mushrooms.
Also the political orientation makes a 180° turn from oldschool socialism to the economical neo-liberalism program of 'selling Austria'.
However there still is the good ole' 'Opernball' every February.
I wrot a shor articel about this event. Whoever is interested can take a look at Opernball
