I think you will find, that issues such as that are based upon the form of Wicca that you are involved with. There are several different schools of thought, much like Christianity, and as many different "rules" of worship. From experience, the Wicca in the Northeast U.S is different from the Southeast, and both are different from the Californian styles.
Wicca is a broad term. In the end, though, they tend to follow the same general principles and ideals. Much like Christianity- Catholics, Protestants, Born Agains,... they all follow the same direction, even if they dont follow the same path.
