Anyone interested in Punch and Judy should read "The Tragical Comedy or Comical Tragedy of Mr. Punch" by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. The artwork is wonderful.

"Theater of Cruelty" by Terry Pratchett is a very good short story about the subject, it's the first Discworld story ever and I think it can be found on the internet as well as in fantasy story compilations. If you like Gaiman you might like Pratchett, they wrote the exellent book, "Good Omens" together.
