A Conversation for Voting in the UK - Your Voter Number

As someone with very strong beliefs i was always told that voting in the uk was anonymous, in other words no one could tell who you voted for.
Funnily enough when you go to vote the voter number is on your voting slip and written down by the people at the polling station. Thus all they have to do is compare the number they have written down for you, with the number on your voting slip and all of a sudden your vote is no longer anonymous.
Perhaps a bit like banning hunting with dogs in the uk, you can still legally chase after a animal with hounds, but you mustnt catch it.
Thus hunting with dogs has been banned, and voting is anonymous; we can all be thankful for the strength, and fairness of the uk government.
