http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/A1080145#footnote6 This footnote - I'd be interested to know where this snippet came from. When I was a teenager I had a huge factfile of stuff about the lovely Harrison, and in it he claimed that he couldn't remember how he'd got the scar. As he was quoted as saying that back when I was at school in the 80s, I'm not sure how he'd have suddenly remembered, nearly two decades later.

Thanks! Jimster thinks he may have said he can't remember to cultivate an air of mystery, but I'm not convinced. I shall do some digging around. I think I got that bit from 'Look-in' or something.

IMDB is usually reliable, and so is Jimster, so I think the explanation pulls through that way.

It's all over the internet. I was misled! Misled I tell you! Apparently he was 21 and hit a telegraph pole or something like that. Typical bloke.

Yeah, dirty old man. I can't believe he's having a bit with Calista Flockhart; that's scandalous, that is.

That scar thing is mentioned in several biographies, so it might be true - or just another example of resilient Hollywood lore...
