As a Kiltmaker, I have to say that this entry on how to sew a Kilt is not a very good description of the work that goes into either a Traditional Kilt, a Casual Kilt or even a Contemporary Kilt. I'm afraid that anyone trying to follow these instructions would produce a thing that looks and wears very poorly.
If you truly wish to learn how to make a Traditional Kilt or understand better the internal construction that is hidden under the liner you have no further to go than your public library and look for "The Art of Kiltmaking". No, that is not my book. But it is considered the bible of Traditional Kiltmaking. The Book "The Art of Contemporary Kiltmaking" should be released in 2009.
