To No 2 Grandson - No, that's my AC/DC/Metallica/SOAD/Robert Plant teeshirt - It's your round - Don't worry, your dreads will grow back after the next round of interviews - It's your round

Progress? (Jul 5, 2010)
Way back in the mists of time, at the very first Manchester meet-up, I had the mick taken out of me - very gently - for the mobile phone I was using then. It was an old Nokia brick.

Technology finally caught up with me and I progressed through the ranks of the mobile, until today when I took delivery of my new phone, it's another Nokia with free GPS etc, guess what??

It's almost as big as The Brick laugh

Back to using a rucksack as a handbag rofl

Just a thought... (May 31, 2010)
I was sitting stitching this afternoon, a set of 4 Winnie the Pooh characters for a Christmas pressie, when it struck me how similar the personalities were to the main h2g2 characters:

Winnie the Pooh, the bear with very little brain - the permanently confused Arthur Dent.

Piglet, the faithful friend - Ford Prefect

Tigger, the bouncy optimist - Zaphod

Eeyore, the permanently depressed paranoic - who else but Marvin!

I think I need to find another job quick!

Merry Thingy (Dec 24, 2009)
O' eck, this Christmas thingy's crept up on me this year, got off to a good start posting cards early etc but thumping eck it's Christmas Eve yikes

Pa's out of hospital, stiff, sore, badly bruised & aching for England but not too bad.

I'm spending most of these days batting backwards and forwards to his house which is why I've not yet had the chance to wish all of you everything you wish for for Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year

smooch

Traffic, Don't Talk To Me About Traffic (Dec 17, 2009)
grr It took me half an hour to get to the other side of Stockport this afternoon for an appointment with the doctor going anti-clockwise around the Great Northern Car Park (formerly known as the M60). Why oh why did it then take me one and a half hours to get home? grr

On a lighter note, Pa's had his second hip replacement done today. They used a spinal block due to him having COPD and he's very pleased with the proceedure apart from almost falling off the operation table laughing at the jokes & banter.

He's now decided that if he does have to eventually have his prostrate removed he wants it done using the same form of anaesthesia yikes Having attended his out-patients appointments with the very nice lady doctor who looks after him for this I think they may have to provide cot sides for the table ok

Ever Felt Like You Were In A 2 Ronnies Sketch? (Nov 22, 2009)
It was the turn of the youngest member of the Weatherwax clan to be chistened today.

As part of the Church of England ceremony it is custom for lighted tapers to be given to the newly baptised (or their representatives). As Milly was being christened along with two of her cousins and one other little boy, the vicar announced, "In a minute my helpers will be coming through with four candles".

The two pews containing Weatherwaxes were rocking rofl

Who Drove to the Beyonce Concert? (Nov 19, 2009)
Me. I left the evening meal cooking under Grandad's care and drove the 9(ish) miles to the arena. The first eight miles were at the speed limit but the last mile the car just crawled along in the gig going trafic.

Why?

Eldest grandson was doing something very romantic for his girlfriend, a suprise night out. He'd booked seats and travel down from Grange-over-Sands so that she could see one of her favourite artistes.

Then he went and forgot his wallet headhurts luckily the tickets weren't in there but all his cash was. dontpanic , just ring Granny laugh

All part of a Granny's Job Description I guess ok

Stupid O'Clock (Oct 20, 2009)
Can anyone explain just why hospitals book you in for 07:00? It's not as if the doctor s start in theatres until 09:00 grr . I'll have to up up for 05:00 at the latest so I can have a 'light breakfast' coffee winkeye . Still it'll give me something to do when I have to lie flat on my back for 4 - 6 hours zzz .

After that I'll be allowed to sit up for 2 hours and then if I'm a very good girl and my blood sugars are good I'll be allowed home sigh I can't take my diabetes medication tomorrow or for the following 48 hours, just what do they expect?

Hope I'm back online2long tomorrow.

Completely 'Armless (Oct 9, 2009)
bleep NHS

Went for my pre-op assessment today, got there early; found a place to park straight away yikes , booked in; got seen by the nurse almost straight away; blood pressure fine, blood sugar fine, ECG made pretty patterns, normal, height, not shrunk any, weight 4lbs lighter ok got seen by the doctor all good there, could have won myself 50p betting that she couldn't find a pulse in left leg; then went straight in to the vampire , I knew things were going too well sadface

I don't like people sticking needles into me. I can do it myself, and can also inject other people, had to do it to my son three times a day but the sight of someone coming at me with a needle makes me shudder. All set and nerved up I sat down in the special chair with the long arm rests, she had just put the needle in and the bleep arm rest tipped up grr Of course she had to do it again so now I've got two lovely bruises and a very sore right arm to add to my almost useless left hand cry

The 21st is the date of the angioplasty, sigh then I'll have just the one limb in (semi) working order!

Communication in the Modern NHS (Oct 6, 2009)
Or rather lack of it.

Pa was at the hospital for a Flow test yesterday. The lovely MacMillan nurse told him that there was to be a meeting to discuss his case on Friday and that she would ring him on Monday to let him know which way forward they would be recommending. It looks like hormone treatment with surgery.

He had to go back today for an appointment to see how he would/will cope after his hip replacement which was scheduled for 5th November.

After hanging around waiting for 1 3/4 hours we were told that he had been taken off the waiting list for the op and thus his appointment today was cancelled grr .

OK, we can see why they wouldn't want to put an 81 yr old through two lots of anatheasia in a short period of time, but hips can be replaced using spinal blocks and WHY oh WHY did no one think to let us know that today's appointment had been cancelled?

Oh <bleep> (Sep 22, 2009)
Daughter and I took Pa to the hospital today for the results of some tests. He's developed prostrate cancer.

On the plus side, it's been caught early and as he's 81, the chances are quite good that it won't be that that carries him off (his words).

He told the very nice doctor that he'd just ruined his last ambition which is to be sued for paternity at the age of 90 laugh . Of course the answer was that they could do miracles for that sort of thing these days. We told the doctor to behave, I certainly don't want another sibling at my age yikes

Manky, manky, manky (Sep 9, 2009)
The cast came off on Monday and the hand and arm underneath looked awful.

I jumped straight in the bath when I got home from the hospital and armed with the exfoliator and with gentle scrubbing, after about 1/2 hour I no longer resembled something from Quatermass & the Pit except that my hand's the size of a melon yikes

Next, I've gotta undergo the delights of the physioterrorists wah

Vampire Strike (Aug 31, 2009)
Got the results of my latest blood tests back today, HbA1C = 6.8mmols/l. After the events of the last two months I'm very surprised, I've had a heavy cold, a water infection and the old hand op which has affected my ability to exercise, not least because I've not been able to go swiming. Not too bad smiley cheers

And the cast comes off in 6 days time disco
