On the whole the site is excellent, however I would like to request that some quick links to be provided in the link box as listed below. The Post deserves its own link and it will serve as a reminder to just browse/enjoy/relax/and contribute. If I could push my luck further the h2g2 Beeblecast should be there to as well as the h2g2 Aviators page. Lets be proud of these people who provde all this wonderful work. My propasal for an updated link box would look like this... * Front Page * The Post * h2g2 Beeblecast * h2g2 Aviators * What is h2g2? * My Space * My Conversations * My Preferences * Who's Online * Write an Entry * Peer Review * Browse * Announcements * Feedback * h2g2 Help * RSS Feeds I hope someone will take a look at this and perhaps ammend the links. 
Great idea, Bob. A quicklink to the Post would be very handy indeed. 
I love that idea, I wouldn't forget to look at the Post (and Beeblecast and Aviators) regularly.

Hate to sound like a killjoy, but don't you think that relegating Peer Review and Write an Entry to the bottom of a huge list of links is rather shooting yourself in the foot when those two links are the 'official' raison d'être for this site and probably the main reason that, throughout the various cuts implemented by the Beeb, we haven't had the plug pulled on us?
Do you really think it's more important to know who's online, than to Write an entry, or have a look at PR, whisky? I don't think the order is so important, and I think linking to the aviators and/or beeblecast isn't feasible anyway, but a direct link to the Post would be nice. I don't think we'll get one, though, cause next thing would be the UG-people wanting (and rightly so) a shortcut to the AWW, etc. It would never end, I'm afraid.

Nope, but if you look at all the existing links you can break them down into two categories... - The Edited Guide: (Write, PR, Browse) - Site Functionality & Help Pages: (What is..., Feedback, Announcements, Feedback, Help, RSS, My Space, My Con, My Pref.) Rather than add a completely new category of 'Community Pages' with direct links to The Post, Aviators, Underguide, H2G2 Pigeon Lovers association etc. ad infinitum... Why not add just one link to a single 'Community Page', which itself could be updated with the various clubs, organisations, etc there are around the site?

Yes, Whisky, that's exactly what I said, just that I didn't use the Latin term. 
The point of this is that I think that those who work hard for us all on the Post and the 2 new sites deserve support and a link is a good way to provide this. The orde of the boxes is not an issue they beserve to be there if at all possable.
Hello there, Thanks for these suggestions. In line with good web practice, the left-hand navigation bar isn't intended to promote content areas but is there for navigational purposes. It's not a place for pieces of content (aside from help pages). We have had rethinks about this before and taken great care to make the navigation bar as short as possible, or else it loses its usefulness and becomes ungainly. However, we will continue to promote specific content areas on the front page. h2g2 Editors
