Excellent entry on Belgium. If you're interested in WWII, it's worth going to the Ardennes. This was the area of the Battle of the Bulge (Dec. 16 - Dec. 25, 1944) - one of the last great German offensives of the war on the Western front and one of the largest battles ever fought by the U.S. Army. Among other things to see in the Ardennes: In Bastogne - the Mardasson memorial the Bastogne Historical Center (museum of the battle)
