Subject: The 'Hospital' method.

A couple of years ago I was admitted into hospital with perforated colon and septicemia. Thanks to the surgical team, against all the odds, I survived.
I spent seven months in hospital and for most of the time I couldn't get out of bed so I did not smoke for all of that time and have not smoked since.
I do not want to discourage anyone from giving up smoking, in fact I would strongly advise it.
However, although I will never go back to it again, there is hardly a day goes by without me really craving for a fag.
DON'T START SMOKING IN THE FIRST PLACE OR QUIT IMMEDIATELY. The addiction and craving only gets stronger as time goes by (I smoked for fort-five years).

I also smoked for a long time - forty six years!

Following a heart attack I spent the next 6 weeks trying to stop but only succeeded in cutting down. Then I was taken into hospital with pnumonia, spent 6 days in drug induced coma then 3 days attached to the hospital wall. The cravings had gone - there were no psycological triggers to remind me to have a cigarette. GREAT - except once out of hospital I thought ..... I'll just have one, it will be nice. I was soon hooked again. So frustrating having had the opportunity to give up without suffering from the craving.

I am now on Champix, again no cravings. I hope it will stay that way when I finish them. I do know not to have even one cigarette.

Good luck to you if you are trying.

Just to reassure you champix does work

I was smoking for 34 years (11-45) June 2009 i decided to try again to give up the demon weed.I took 2 courses of Champix and 7 months later still not smoking. I originally tried everthing gum, patches and accupunture but always went back to smoking
the want to stop has got to be greater than the need to smoke and you will succeed
