Subject: JPEG files CAN contain viruses

At least, they can now, thanks to a vulnerability in Windows' JPEG library which has recently been publicised.

The chief advice is not to trust ANYTHING AT ALL, as there are image vulnerabilities in some versions of various Linux libraries, and also ones on the Mac.

Also, Jabber's not a chat program, it's a protocol used by lots of different programs.

how do you add virus support to a non-executable format?

that is just daft.

also, the jabber website does say that some jabber servers provide gateways to legacy im, like icq and others.

this means that while you are technically correct, functionally you are often wrong.

Talking about viruses I am not a very technicle person as you will be able to tell from my space if you visit. Twice today I encountered
what I thought might be a virus it was an endless stream of +++++++++ and kept moving without me touching anything. I turned off the site and the pc. I am never sure whether I should turn every thing off or not
because some viruses, programs get established when you turn off your pc. True or not?
