Hello shiny new h2g2! I'm continuing my tradition of logging in every five years or so and updating this page with a link to where I am.

Last time it was Facebook, but that's SO old now. Twitter's where it's at. In a few year's time when twitter goes out of fashion I'll come back and link to Bebo or something.

Me on twitter: @peregr1n
Me on the web: www.ianferguson.me.uk

I used to be very active on h2g2 in the heady early pre-BBC days, and thinking about it makes me feel misty and nostalgic.

One day I'll come back properly and write all the stuff that I meant to write.

h2g2 still kicks wikipedia's arse.

Another update (Apr 30, 2009)
...and a few years later. This is like the slowest blog EVER.

Living on the Isle of Widget, working in Southampton, no longer with Tinkerbell.

Nowadays I waste time on Facebook and Twitter (@peregr1n - peregrin wasn't available!)

Apparently I registered ten years ago but I don't remember much from then. I was going to uni... then it's a bit of a blur.

The odd memory pops up from h2g2 and meetups, and they're all good smiley

Update (Jul 4, 2005)
Let's see... I'm still living in the New Forest, with Tinkerbell, still working at the Mayflower theatre, still procrastinating and meaning to do something useful, etc. etc.

I've developed a taste for seafood. That's news? Kinda?

HIV Status (Feb 17, 2005)
So... the Conservative party here (the main political opposition) announced their proposed policy recently of screening every immigrant to the UK for HIV and TB, with a positive reading for TB at least meaning their visa is automatically turned down. And the Labour party (currently in power) are saying that they're planning the same too.

I'm not usually one to rant about politics but how incredibly unethical is this?! It panders directly to the widespread prejudices against people who are HIV positive, not to mention suggesting the spread of HIV is directly the fault of ethnic minorities...

Mind you, I'm pretty much against public opinion in regards to immigration anyway - my opinion is that Britain happily f****d up many worldwide cultures in the past few centuries, and is therefore at least partly responsible for creating the huge gap between first and third world countries. After massacaring the native populations and installing our own culture in place, we can't really sit here on our high horse and complain about desperate refugees eroding our own culture.

I think anyone who complains about immigration should go and live and try and make a living in Uganda for a while, and see where they would prefer to move to.

So there.

Footnote: Besides, I want to move out of Britain and experience working in another culture anyhow, so somebody can have my place as soon as I find a job in the far east...

What's new? (Jul 6, 2004)
I wonder if there's anything new happening around here.

I hate to admit it, but I only logged in to make sure that h2g2 isn't going down the drain because of the new cutbacks in the BBC's online services.
