 | Hello, and welcome to my new and improved (though not particularly original) space. This is what my intro used to say: 'I am Clare. I was born, and am not dead. I will write more when I have the time and patience.' Now, finding myself in proud ownership of 8, yes EIGHT weeks of holiday, I thought I might just have time to fulfil this.So......... My name, as you might just have gathered by now, is Clare . I read everything I can get my hands on, and my favourite books at the moment are The long dark teatime of the soul (thanks, Roadkill!) and The Secret History, by Donna Tartt. My greatest ambitions are to build a time machine and (even less realistically) to become fluent in French and German.
Oh yes, and I have been awarded title of: Keeper of Interesting but Essentially Useless words like Halitosis and Snood
And just to show I can do it too: (2+2+3)*6*2/2 = 42

Another cool site is People for Peace (A633331). If you are a person and/or for peace, check it out.
My favourite quote at the moment:
'What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?' GANDHI
I am a pacifist , vegetarian , socialist , and wannabe hippy

Just had Greek, my last exam. The worst bit is when you look at a translation and have No Clue what the first word means. Then you try and find the full stop, thinking maybe the second sentence will give you a clue to the first one....help! The second sentence doesn't start til about 3 paragraphs later, and looks, if anything, even worse than the first. Then I finished the exam with nearly an our to spare and started freaking out, thinking I must have missed a page, or got the wrong paper of something. Ah well, at least it's over now
After the exam I'd arranged to meet a year eight who was having problems with Latin (unspecified problems, rumour had it she didn't understand the difference between verbs and nouns - somewhat crucial, I would have thought). I was a bit nervous coz I want to be a Classics teacher when I'm older and this was my first class that didn't consist mostly of my sister. The lesson didn't go quite how I had expected, the one girl I had been expecting had morphed into eight, and I had been intending to do at least some of the talking myself...they were quite keen though, and I think they learned some stuff, which was the main purpose of the excercise.
I'm freee now anyway, don't have to know anything for another year, can just do and Click here to discuss this
