Welcome Unknown Visitor. Well you found me and I've got a special hat!
And finally...I need a cup of the brown stuff the shade of an acorn, made warm by the same source that I take my cakes from.

Sport Relief
(Jan 23, 2012)
I have decided to do something for Sport Relief this year. I plan to cycle up a hill round two lakes and back down.
I will be doing this some time in the weekend of 23rd to 25th March - the Sport Relief weekend. The link to my Sport Relief page is here . http://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/johnchapple
The link to a map of the ride is here - http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/65230054
The training begins!

I've got it!
(Nov 25, 2011)
At last I have got the new bike. I picked it up yesterday from 69 Cycles ( http://www.sixtyninecycles.co.uk/ ) and the guys there, Nick and Ollie were really helpful.
I went out tonight and was completely bowled over. It is faster and easier to ride. I was riding into a head wind and on the old bike I would have been in a much lower gear than on the new one.
All I can say is - STUNNING!

Just when everything was going so well...
(Nov 24, 2011)
Life throws a curve ball.
I have been off work for 5 weeks now with stress. Things have been slowly improving and I have been feeling OK for the last week or so and have even contemplated returning to work. A couple of difficult conversations have to happen first though.
This morning (Wednesday 23rd) my wife developed severe abdominal pain and has ended up admitted to hospital. She is OK at the moment but we are waiting for decisions to be made. This has knocked me for six but not as badly as it would have done 3 weeks ago.
I also had a text from the shop I'm getting a new bike from. It is ready for collection and I have been looking forward to this event as the current bike is a flabby pogo stick of a mountain bike which is falling apart.
I should be feeling excited but todays events have left me feeling flat.
Bummer

Woo Hoo!!!
(Nov 18, 2011)
The Cycle2Work voucher arrived today so I can now go and exchange it for a nice shiny new bike . This is the one - http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_gb/b...12/97/Cross+Bike/CROSSWAY+TFS+300-D .
I have also lined up some new cycling kit so I'll have to raid the Piggy Bank.
