Hola! Namaste!

After recent sojourns across the face of the globe (India, Mexico, and Dublin) Polidari now finds himself permanently attached to his desk again (and he's not too happy about it!). Mexico included the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, and the wedding of a friend to a Mexican girl in a cathedral - reception started at 21:30 and went on to 4:00...

Polidari had only just returned from a brief sojourn in India (well - February), where he discovered religion, didn't like it, so put it back again and backed slowly away.

Born in 1846 to unknown parents and left for ritual sacrifice at a reknowned stone circle, my life has been a struggle against adversity from the start.

From these distressed beginnings I have striven to make good of my life, and despite the hideous physical deformities and lack of knees, I continue to strive to this day. If you're interested in my appearance just consider an old gaunt man with a pronounced stoop and a black fedora.

And big meaty thighs. Probably due to the lack of knees.

Time holds no barriers to me and I find myself able to commute across centuries in the blink of an eye. The only problem with this is that even though time is no barrier, I don't get around too easy, so it's not worth going anywhen.

Odd socks
In the sock collection at the moment are one ankle length brown one, and a knee length school girl one (which I might well keep). If you are the owner of the brown one then please let me know...

Also, if you should come across any lost socks lying about the place, let me know, and I'll add them into the ever-growing collection. Presently waiting (patiently) for my socks smiley.

Here are some recommendations for your delectation :

Favourite Films : Duck Soup (Groucho!), Seven Samurai, Metropolis.

Favourite Books : A Prayer For Owen Meany, Catch 22, Watership Down, Ghost Story, Pride and Prejudice.

I think this probably confirms that I ought to get out more.

Thank Bob for Factorials! 180 - 9 - 5! - 9 = 42

I'm in! (Jan 4, 2002)
Rather excited because today received my first e-mail to say that I had something accepted to the main guide, which I completely wasn't expecting.

Especially as I hadn't realised the bit I wrote would be going into the guide - I thought I was just responding to a question. Maybe I should read things more carefully in the future!

Anyway, the guide entry is http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A640081 - Classic Sporting Moments - and my response gets to be number one on the list - Headingly '81 - which is very satisfying. Going to have to knuckle down now and actually complete some solo entries...

Empty Journal....!! (Dec 11, 2001)
Very aware that the journal is a little on the sparce side, so here's stuff : -

Just come out of a two hour meeting which I chaired. Hurrah. Find them a little taxing (chairing meetings with the MD does that to me, especially trying to keep order : words 'bun' and 'fight' sometimes come to mind). But that'll be my last one as it was for our staff representative body and I'm presently organising the elections to find our successors (lucky bleeders). I don't think they'll have a year like we just had though, what with two rounds of redundancies and our biggest promotion ever...

Reading (because I can) :
Lunchtimes : The Man Who Mistook his Wife For A Hat : Oliver Sachs (very interesting)
Bedtime : HHGTHG (because it was time I read it again)

h2g2 Virgin (Jul 17, 2001)
Ummmm,

Okay first time in, not really sure what's going on.

Sounds a bit like life really. Hoping to come back next time as a cactus, but I think that's getting off the point somewhat...

Anyway - I've got a journal and I'm not afraid to use it.

Busy day (aren't they all) 119 people being made redundant (is there a guide entry on redundancy yet - that could be my first entry?). This would be easier if I had thoghts of my own. Umm. Late in the day now so this meagre effort might have to be my inauspicious start to lif in the h2g2 world. As they say - from one snowflake....
