 | Hey there or I should say howdy,
Well, it’s Scotchneetok here. I suppose you would like to know a bit about me since you’re reading this. If you were to ask those who know me you might hear things like: nice, sweet guy, amazing, brilliant, crazy, romantic, foolish, helpful, stubborn, pain in the ass, Renaissance man……and such. I suppose if you were to ask me and I was truly forthcoming, you might hear something like: average, middle aged, student of life, hopeful romantic, sculptor, inventor, musician, fool, and 200yr old teenager.
I feel that I think too much. My mind is a mass bits and bobbles of parts and pieces of systems, images, plans, and theories. Delving into the philosophical, my mind can stem the tide of the analytical. A nice little internal or external debate on religion, government, humans, the meaning of life, etc, is always a great way to clear the head, so to speak. Meditation can be useful depending on the level of external influences. A nice hot soak with a sci-fi book does the trick, but only in cooler weather.
I think that I feel too much. My heart, soul, spirit whatever you call it is a mess. I met and fell in love with an amazing woman many years ago. I drove her away. It was the “responsible” choice. I ignored the words of the most wonderful woman I ever knew, my Grandma. The last words she said to me before she died were “always follow your heart, Tommy. Love is all that really counts”. Well, being responsible didn’t matter much in the long run. A wonderfully cynical friend of mine has tried to convince me that love is nothing but a chemically induced illusion. I think I felt I was convinced, and then “she called”.
I make stuff. Good with my hands I guess. I really dig rhythms and the play of harmonics.
Well my head just went spinning off into a design, gotta go for now.

It looks like we dodged it again. The big storm was coming dead on then hooked a right and gave us it's "clean" side. After spending 2 days and 200 sheets of plywood, my friends and I managed to secure 17 houses for friends and families. It may seem like a waste since the storm didn't hit us head-on, but then the season isn't quite over. Most everyone plans to leave at least some of the covering up until the end of the season.
It was a nice storm here. Only a little wind (30-60 mph) with squall lines coming through in waves. The wind was coming from the north because Houston was on the "clean" side of the storm. With a south facing building, I was able to sit on my porch and watch the waves of rain in comfort with my feet up on the rail. It's quite exhilarating to observe the power of a hurricane first hand, even on it's weak side.
Many people evacuated and I have a list of people to call with the staus of their houses. It was amazing seeing almost 2 million people flee along 4 main freeways in less than 2 days. One group of my friends drove 28 hrs to their destination. It would normally take 7 hrs but traffic was wild. It's time to be off about the nieghborhood, so later.
