Besides myrmecology ... ooh, long word... I'm also interested in Life, The Universe and Everything. But that's why we're here isn't it? My interests include: human-computer interactions, science (my first degree was in physics), art, painting (watercolours mostly), digital art, food and drink, meteorology, gardening, archeology, web page design... I'll think of some more later.

Amy the Guru I am a Guru which means that I have volunteered to try to help people with their questions about h2g2. Amy the Artist I am a Community Artist. I mostly use Corel Painter but I also use Bryce a fair bit. My favourite shareware graphics application is GraphicConverter. It only comes in Mac flavour. My first h2g2 commission was to produce the fish graphics for The h2g2 Post. You can find out more about my artwork for h2g2 at Graphic ants. I am responsible for some of the h2g2 smileys. My Sport Relief (http://www.sportrelief.com) pack has arrived so it's time to get down to some more serious training. The idea this time is that I  a timed mile in Roundhay Park, Leeds on Sport Relief Day (10th July) and collect sponsorship money for doing so. When I've run the mile they'll give me another red sock to prove that I've done it. Personally, I think they should give me an additional five socks but that's probably just me  .
The most observant and least drunk amongst you will notice that July 10 is also the date of the h2g2 meet in London. Obviously, I won't be attending the meet but I'm going to take advantage of the coincidence by asking those attending the meet to sponsor me and to give their money to Ormondroyd U95721 who will have my sponsor form with him.
If you're going to the meet and would like to commit yourself in advanced to sponsoring me - or if you have other means of getting sponsorship money either to Ormy or to myself - please post in this thread and I'll write your h2g2 nickname on my race number as one of my 'Mile Mates.' So, in a way, you'll do the mile with me. And you get to drink  while you're doing it. Who could say fairer than that?
I was about to say that you won't go all red and blotchy either but that probably depends on how much you drink.

The t-shirt and natty hat have arrived so it's time to start training in earnest. I'm wearing the t-shirt - I may as well, before it goes in the wash - but not the hat. The streets of Leeds aren't ready for an ant in a bright pink hat just yet.
Day 1: Run 1 minute, walk 1 minute for 10 to 15 minutes. How hard can it be?
