I've posted a number of them through the years.
This is one of my favourite ballads, composed by Carl Michael Bellman in the 18th century, and still very popular. Cornelis Vreeswijk did a version but I agree with the commenter on that particular music video that the Imperiet version is slightly better:

And yes, I really ought to write an entry on Bellman. Some time. Ish. Click here to discuss this

Eurovision Song Contest 2013

Now, my opinion is that one of the most important characteristics for a winning song is to have a catchy, sing-along refrain. Which is why I think Loreen was a worthy winner - I've been howling along in the refrain of Euphoria a number of times
These are notes I make to keep track of the songs I think fit in or not.
Austria: no
Estonia: no
Slovenia: hmmmm... maybe
Croatia: no, although I like the folk music style - and is that 9/8 or not? Never quite managed to get my head around that specific rhythm...
Denmark: yes, and a bit folkie too - also, a good voice
Russia: not a sing-along song despite two of the songwriters/composers being Swedish
Oh my, past Swedish contributions; tight pink manchester pants on a man? Matched with top in same colour and a dark purple jacket
Ukraine: nice song, but can I sing along? No.
Netherlands: beautiful song, but the verse feels stronger than the refrain? No.
Montenegro: no, too much of too many different things, although the Carneval of Venice was a nice thing.
Lithuania: no
Conclusion: Denmark is the best in my opinion in this batch of 10 contributions.

The page says it should be viewable from anywhere in the world, but it's in Norwegian and texted in Swedish, so a bit limited language wise.

Oh, and the title could be translated as 'Where no one thought anyone could live'.

Taking the rest of the year off

Heh, as if But that's what one of my closest colleagues jokingly suggested when I finally cracked the mystery of the great VAT differences.
See, when the company you w*rk for ends up no. 2 on the list of the '2011 list of the 100 companies with biggest turn-over in the hotel and restaurant business' (only bested by McDs) VAT is a thing of importance.
Every third or fourth year, Skatteverket (think IRS) hits us with a audit of some kind. And I'm the one usually ending up with the task of delivering all the information they ask for *sighs as last time it took several days of just creating the data files*
And we've been having this problem with incomes not matching the VAT they should have generated. Last year, a difference of 26 million SEK in revenue. So not a small thing.
And this week, I finally cracked it. Hah! Analyzing the figures from a different point of view compared withothers who had tried before me.
Left with a much smaller difference, I managed to crack that one too <smug>
I totally agree with the intelligence test I took several years ago that told me I'm best at 'abstract analysis'. Click here to discuss this

You know a book is really good when you...
...prefer to read it (in e-book format, but still) rather than playing your beloved PC games. 'Wise man's fear' in this case. I even *ahem* bring it into the bathroom.
There are sections where I feel the author used chisel and hammer to *really find the perfect way of describing an emotion, action, song, scenery.
Despite not being a cat, I still purr with satisfaction every now and then while reading this book.
What was that, tummy? Oh, you're hungry? But didn't I eat... uh... seven hours ago? Click here to discuss this
