Greetings, fellow hitchhiker! If you leave your shoes outside you are welcome to enter and have a seat at my fireplace.

I used to be commodore of The Love Fleet, 7th armada. I have also been known as a viking (but that was long before that). Lately I have been The Keeper of The Only True Faith: Agnosticism. And on the side I made a living out of a small firm called Love Wholesale ltd.

But now I have taken a leave from all that to join the rebel army of the zaphodistas!

You can read about my ship, myself and my crew here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A579684 - you can even join my crew if you like!

In case you are interested to know I registered thursday 27. january 2000 a few minutes past 11 am

I have just (december 15th 2003) been appointed "sole protector of the one master key to the chastity belts of all female thingites (you know: one key to rule them all, one key to bind them and all that?)" drool

Oh, one thing before I go to the galley: If you should happen to have reason to wonder about my long absences it may have something to do with my strange working hours. As of wednesday april 9th 2008 I now have access to the world wide web from my private quarters, but that does not necessarily mean that I am on line as often as I may want to, so I may not be able to communicate with you in real time anyway. Please bear with me! pirate

In the meantime you could go visit some of my friends (but it appears that this feature does not w*rk any more so you may have to seek them out for youself):

PS: As for me patch, me hook and me peg leg, no, they are not real in real life, so feel free to make a few jokes about them - I know I will biggrin

Cliches and stereotypes (4 Weeks Ago)
Angela Merkel is landing in Athens airport and is slightly surprised that the immigration officer apparently doesn't recognize her and starts asking her qustions.
Name, Madame? Age? Nationality?
She answers: Angela Merkel, Fifty-Seven, German.
Occupation?
No, no, no, I am only staying a couple of days....

Farewell, Mr. Møller (5 Weeks Ago)
This morning the world's biggest shipowner (and of course Denmark's richest man) Arnold Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller died at the age of 98. Only a few days after participating in the general meeting of his company (he still controlled the majority of shares)

If you live anywhere near the seven seas you will recognize the light blue vessels of the Maersk Line, most of them built in Maersks own shipyards - and some of them (nine, I believe) now the largest ships on the seas

Not bad for a man from a nation counting only 5.5 million inhabitants - but this certainly tells you more about the man than about his nation. Most of us are hobbit-like. He was something completely different. Yet always very humble and claiming he owed it all to his father

I am not in favour of kings, queens and capitalists, but you have to respect what the man achieved - if not for anything else than for the fact that nobody else came anywhere close to his achievements though many had the same chances

My US friends should know that Mr. Møller was a great friend of America. So much that when the presidents Bush & Bush went to war against the Iraq he offered to transport their troops - for free

I am not in favour of wars either - but he followed his heart. And at least I share his love for the sea and what better way to celebrate a special countryman by showing you this:

Memories - and loss thereof (Apr 3, 2012)
It suddenly strikes me as an odd coincidence that most people my age remember the band name "Elephant's Memory" - yet no-one remembers any of the music said band played huh

"The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel... (Mar 25, 2012)
...for the elderly and beautiful" is now officially a must see.
Judi Dench and Maggie Smith - it doesn't get much better!
And these are only two of magnificent and well aged actors gathered for your entertainment.
The young ones are pretty good as well

who? (Mar 7, 2012)
I just saw the first episode of the new Doctor Who series.

Until now I have only seen one episode (on BBC Entertainment) since they haven't aired the show here (Denmark) for years.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that a part of the dashboard of the tardis is an ancient typewriter. Not only that, it looked like the exact same make and model of typewriter my father used. An Olympia I inherited from him - and intend to keep for as long as I live.

As some of you may know my father passed away when I was just 20 years and 4 days old. Only a few days ago I could tell my youngest sibling that she - just like her four siblings - is now older than her father was. 53 years and 50 days.

Coincidences? Yes, I think so, but it makes a nice story, don't you think?

pirate

PS: Oh, by the way, I like the doctor and his tardis and the young diva he goes travelling with and will try to follow the series as much as I can smiley
