Been A while
(Jan 28, 2013)
Wow, so been a while since TRFKAKJ (AKA Me) signed into this site.
Since my last visit, Dr Who made a comeback (and how) I now have 2 kids, both at school and we moved out of Ingerlund and into South Australia.
And now I note that H2G2 hasn't exactly been idle, and migrated out of the Beeb. Interesting times behind and ahead.

So long and fanks for all the thish
(Sep 9, 2004)
After my Elvis period I found I can live without the BBC's version of hootoo.
I met some good people on here and I would just like to wish you all the luck and success you all deserve.
This is definately the last post I will make on this site in it's current incarnation. The decisions made by TPTB that the slanties have to impose are definately not how I imagined this site when I joined up in May 2003. Since it's the beebs toy I will leave rather than jump and scream to have it my way.
Be good, and if you can't be good, be happy

Mmm I think it's time
(Feb 16, 2004)
That I sat on my lazy fat *rse and wrote something new. This is something I haven't done in nearly 3 years (since I wrote Why? in fact)
I need inspiration, motivation and generally a good kick up the jacksie to get going.
I know I have the time (look at the amount of it I have been spending on here just lurking) so I need to get motivated. Thing is I cannot do self motivation.

(Sep 12, 2003)
On Wednesday September 10th at 22:25 GMT there was a major disturbance in the force as the Padawan formerly known as Gilbert/Frank came into the world. This screaming 7lb 2oz being then became known as Bethany
Yoda and Padawan are both doing well
A very happy KJ

Sorry just couldn't resist.
OK RL seems to have been dealt with, but will still not be able to devote the former levels of time to this site. Will be around and more active than I was over the last couple of weeks.
And a lot of my mates at work look like they are losing their jobs to India soon. My job is safe for now, but who knows how long that will last Click here to discuss this

(Jun 25, 2003)
My poem why has been accepted by Shazz and is being published in the post on 26/06.
I would be happy but the poem brings me sadness, for obvious reasons when you read it.
It was still a catharsis, and it helped me through a very difficult time. Click here to discuss this

(Jun 8, 2003)
After a couple of years without writing anything (except my name on cheques) I was finally taken to write something last night, and I'm quite pleased, because although it is still quite rusty, I like it.
One day all of this will be over And the piper shall have to be paid There is one thing that is still outstanding I just wanna get laid
My hormones are bursting through the roof I'm approaching the end of my days Forget about love, that's just extra I just wanna get laid
A 90 year old virgin is what I am A man who's never been with a maid Before I depart this mortal coil I just wanna get laid.

A university of Life entry
(Jun 1, 2003)
I am currently thinking about putting together a University of Life entry on Frank Herberts dune Chronicles. With the able help of Helly and possible Courtesy38. May need more help though, cos there are 6 books, and all of them are complex and intriguing.
Mmm may have to think about this some more.

Bitten off more than can chew
(May 16, 2003)
Do you ever get the feeling that you have bitten off more than you can chew, or are drinking from a hosepipe?
I am feeling that now. I spotted there wasn't really a thorough entry in the guide for Frank Herberts Dune, so I thought I'd take it upon myself to do one.
Now I find myself overwhelmed with the amount of information that I feel needs to go into this piece, but have hit a bit of a block in doing so.
I could write pages and pages on this, the novels are so rich and deep, the characterisation, the worlds, the politics, the intrigue, the socio-ecologcal aspects.
What I am struggling with is how to pare all this down to get the essence of the books, and my enthusiasm for these books into something fit for peer review.
But I will struggle on, and know that when it is done, I will have done the best possible job I have done, for to do less would be a travisty against an author that has brought me at least as much pleasure to read that JRR Tolkien did with the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
Now that's off my chest I may get back to the article.

Free Alcohol
(May 9, 2003)
As well as getting Gilbert scanned today, I also get a free bottle of Jack Daniels for allowing a neighbour to remove a fence panel temporarily while his conservatory was being built. . So I guess s are on me tonight.
I also posted a couple of things I've been meaning to, to the Alternative writing group so hopefully I'll get some good suggestions on how to polish those pieces up.
And also it was first day of holiday so no w*rk which was fantastic, and the weather wasn't too bad either. Think I might buy a lottery ticket tomorrow. Click here to discuss this

Gilbert
(May 9, 2003)
Today Mrs Jedi and I went for the 20 week scan on the padawan Gilbert.
All checked out fine, good strong heartbeat and looks like the sprog is going to be as fidgety as I am.
Got some scan pics, a couple that me and the mrs couldn't figure out.
It's amazing just how long the legs are in comparison to the rest of the body though.
With perfect timeing gilbert proved that the kidneys are in full working order by peeing on camera. Oh how we laughed.
The baby as a whole no longer looks like a rugby ball, but the head does so the name Gilbert will remain for now. (Am working on the mrs to try and get Jack Daniel or Jackie Danielle as the name) Click here to discuss this

Woohooo
(May 8, 2003)
8 Days holiday start today No plans, just dossing, no w*rk. The liberation
(Well one plan, going to hospital tomorrow to see how Gilbert is progressing)
Might hang round here trying not to get too far up the posters chart, so I think I'll try and leave the games alone for a wee bit and maybe offer some help in the writing workshop or peer review.
Will also have the time to have a bash at getting my website in to a presentable order, although whether I have the motivation is a different matter, a lot will depend on the weather.
Also during this next week Mrs Jedi and myself celebrate 9 years of marriage. (Was only 21 when we got hitched). This I think is a great achievement, especially in this day and age. Of all the people I know (except the in-laws) we have the longest marriage going.
I think the biggest thing we have going for us is that we always talk. Whenever we hit a rough patch we have just made sure that the other person knows what we are feeling, and supported each other through it.
I hope everyone who reads this is hale and hearty, and I'll see you about hootoo

Berlin
(Apr 29, 2003)
Just been to Berlin with a bunch of mates called The Grid Irn Cru.
Yes we are Scottish and we follow the Scottish Claymores American football team.
I have to say that I love Germany, both times I have been there the weather, people, beer and places have been great.
Berlin has so much history, from the remnants of the Berlin wall to the bloody forging of the nation state of Germany, it is all there. It was too much to do in just 3 days.
I never realised just how big the place is, we walked for 2 hours to get from the Center of West Berlin to the Brandenburg gate.
At the moment it is the biggest metropolitan building site in Europe, with the re-unification of the city going on at pace. So much so that now you cannot tell when you have crossed the 'Iron Curtain'.
The people we met were so friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed.
I would definately recommend Berlin as a place to go in Europe.
(It also helped that the Claymores won woohoo) Click here to discuss this
