Neal's bike crash (Sep 19, 2012)
Just an update (in my own space) on Neal and his bike crash.

He is in surgery at the moment...he went down just before 2.00pm. it will be some time before I find out how the operation went and whether they have actually saved the leg or not.

Not sure if now is the right time to type this as my head isn't where is should be. I don't even think it's on my shoulders but hey ho.

Am tired and lost without him. I would rather he come back alive and without a leg if the surgeons need to take that decision. The house we have is already adapted for disabilities due to the elderly lady who owned the house before us having had it adapted, so it wouldn't be a massive issue apart from chances are Neal wouldn't be able to work and there is no one to sue due to the accident having taken place on a race track.

Will update people when I can. Will apologise now for any crying, ranting, swearing I may or may not put in here in the future.

Snake bite (Jan 1, 2012)
Naughty Daisy! cross

Brought in the New Year with my fella N. We stood up and danced and smooch a few times.

We then decided to feed Daisy the Snake. I put her food in as usual and N decided that where I'd put her food wasn't in the right place, so silly N put his hand inside her house to move her food. Silly N!

Daisy struck and bit his right hand. He was very brave. He didn't move until Daisy let go which I have to admit was straight away. N doesn't taste very nice laugh

So I phoned up NHS Direct and was advised he needed to go to A&E because of possible infection.

On New Years Eve?! Do they know what happens in A&E on New Years Eve?!

So, I thought I'd ring up A&E and get advice from them. Nope. I had to bring him in sooner rather than later. The guy I spoke to was lovely. He said that if we came in now it wasn't too bad, only about an hour wait.

So I rang a taxi firm. It would be at least 20 minutes before a taxi was available. I advised it was sort of an emergency and they said it would be 20 minutes, take it or leave it. I accepted it.

I then went outside to have a ciggie. I remembered that the guy (whom I now know to be called Steve) had come home only a short while before, perhaps there was a chance he hadn't had a drink so I knocked on his door.

YAY!!! He hadn't been drinking!

I explained the situation and he was only too happy to help and run us to A&E which was about a 7 minute drive away. He even offered to wait for us which of course we couldn't accept as we didn't know how long we'd be. We thanked him lots (although we don't know what to buy him as a thank you present as he doesn't drink - answers on a post card please)

We went inside and there was a guy who'd been bitten by a dog. We had a bit of a laugh with him over who's was the most painful. Then it was our turn at reception. Then just as we were about to "register" two female police officers came in with a guy who had somehow hurt his head. I said to one of the police officers that they could go before us as it was quiet and they did have a job to do and wanted to make their New Years Eve a little less stressful. They both wished us a Happy New Year when they left to carry out their duties.

We then got called through and the guy said that he assumed it was me he spoke to on the phone as they don't tend to get snake bites in. I laughed and said it was.

They quickly scrubbed N's wound and gave him some anti biotics. We thanked the doctor and went on our way.

As we were leaving N saw one of his friends who was an ambulance technician. We chatted to him for a few minutes and wished him a Happy New Year then went outside to get a taxi home.

Whilst waiting for a taxi N's friend came outside to sort out his ambulance for his next shout and said that he had spoken to the doctor who treated N and the doctor said what a lovely genuine person N was and that he was happy that he managed to treat someone who wasn't abusive towards him.

We then got our taxi home. All in all 1 hour 20 minutes.

Thank you so much to Steve our neighbour for taking us to the hospital.

Thank you to the A&E staff who treated N on a night where they were getting nothing but trouble.

Thank you to the taxi driver for not charging us New Years Eve rates to bring us home.

Happy New Year guys!!!!

Strange messages (Dec 28, 2011)
A short while ago (ok, a couple of months ago) I got a text message asking me who I was. I didn't answer.

Then about a month ago I got a phone call at 10.30pm asking me who I was. I said that I didn't know who they were (as my phone didn't tell me) and ended the call.

Then last night I noticed I'd got yet another text from this person asking who I was so I asked them who they were. They gave me their name. I didn't know anyone with that name so I told them. I then got 3 further messages saying that they must know me as they have my number! yikes

hmmm...I think I might be getting in touch with my mobile provider to request an alternative number.

Lovely Bel has reminded people that no-one is really hanging around in PR. This got me thinking...I haven't done any Guide Entries for *counts on fingers* I don't know how long!

Me thinks I'd better do something about that...not sure when thought because I've promised Bel that I'd go into PR too!

In memorium (Oct 25, 2011)
We came up with an idea. An idea that will hopefully will prove popular.

I am attempting to arrange a charity bike ride in the name of Marco Simoncelli. One of the commentators on EuroSport has agreed to find out what charaties Simonchelli was part of, or endorsed. Rather nice of him I thought. smiley

Anyway, the last motogp race is in Valencia a week on Sunday and he won't be able to find out if there is a memorial fund or not until then.

We've been banding about a few ideas. One of my partner's friends is a friend of Paul Denning, the one and only Suzuki team in the Moto GP, so we're seeing if we can go via him to get some names and faces on the charity bike ride.

Here's hoping!

Rest in peace Marco Simoncelli (Oct 23, 2011)
rose

You were an inspiration and an exiting rider. Your life was lost to a freak accident that in normal circumstances would not have happened.

From what I have seen, I am thinking that you passed away quickly and painlessly.

My throughts are with your family and friends, together with your race crew and competitor friends.

You will be very sadly missed and Moto GP will not be the same without you.

To Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi, you could not have avoided Marco. do not blame yourself as the accident was freak and neither of you had anywhere to go. My thoughts are with you also.

...I had to log on the new id system because I'd lose my personal space, I thought I'd chuck a journal up and annoy everyone evilgrin

How are all my friends?!

It's been a bad year for losing friends but we won't ever forget them. smiley They're inside us see. Inside our minds and hearts. I remember speaking to Peter and Mike on the phone and had the most wonderful opportunity of having them at my wedding just over 3 years ago.

Here's to making new friends this year. Here's to keeping the friends we already have.

Here's to us!

VV calling (Jul 21, 2009)
Evening all.

As some of you may know by now, mum's in hospital. I have tried to phone a few people but:

a. My phone is playing up.
b. It appears that some people turn their phones off at night.
c. It also appears that I don't have some numbers yikes

Anyways. She's fine. Just come back from seeing her. Just a couple more tests to do which have to be done on an empty stomach and this is the only reason she's being kept in overnight.

All being well, she'll have the blood tests done in the morning and will be home by midday.

See! Nothing to worry about.

Bet you won't even realise she's missing.

Nite all!

Yet more sadness to come. (Dec 3, 2008)
I'm pretty sure mum will be doing a journal entry soon and I'm also quite sure that she has spoken to a few of her online friends about the information we received last night.

I really shouldn't be coming on here and only giving sad news. I really must learn to give positive news, but this is so sad.

As you may be aware my dad's sister had cancer a few years ago and beat it, then it came back whilst she was pregnant with her son and we all knew it would be terminal, but not in such a short period of time. We all thought years...not just over 1 year.

We got told this evening that my aunt may not make it to Christmas.

The cancer has spread to quite a few places, but namely her lungs and her brain.

She can't see very well, has limited speech and can't move very well either. Her husband is putting a brave face on things, as is my dad.

I wish this year would just go away. Be folded up into a letter, put into an envelope and thrown onto the fire never to be relived again.

I've lost my chair! (Oct 22, 2008)
OK. It's not quite as it seems.

You see, my dad's cat had decided that it belongs to her.

I have a folding out chair that is extremely comfortable and that little bleep has decided that only she can sit on it. She spent the whole night in my room and now I've just been upstairs, she's all curled up on it!

The cheek!

I'm planning my revenge evilgrin

VV begins the divorce process (Oct 2, 2008)
The title pretty much encompasses everything.

The nisi should be before Christmas and the absolute in the New Year. Great timing eh!

A handful of friends are fully aware of what has actually gone on but I don't wish to speak of that on the site so those friends who do know whats happened, could you please keep it to yourself.

I've not intentionally not told my other friends, it was just circumstances when my other friends were told, so please don't think that I'm not talking to you, because I am.

I am considering returning to the site seems as I'm not working at the moment. I've got an idea or two for the Edited Guide but I'm extremely rusty in guide ml and I "might" even have to ask mother for help! yikes rolleyes

Anyways. Not sure if I will actually get any sleep tonight because of what I've instigated today so who knows, those who are night owls might even get to have a proper chat with me! winkeye

Mum was so intent on pressing the big red button, she's gone and upset her side again. rolleyes

She packed her bag a few hours ago and dad took her off to hospital. Again!

Haven't heard from dad for a few hours. I'm sure he's shattered and as soon as I hear anything I'll let you all know.

Have a giggle on me (Jul 8, 2008)
The Hair Dryer

A distinguished young woman on a flight from Switzerland

Asked the Priest beside her, 'Father, may I ask a favour?'

'Of course. What may I do for you?'

'Well, I bought an expensive woman's electronic hair dryer for my
mother's birthday that is unopened and well over the Customs limits,
And I'm afraid they'll confiscate it. Is there any way you could carry
It through Customs for me? Under your robes perhaps?'

'I would love to help you, dear, but I must warn you: I will not lie.'

'With your honest face, Father, no one will question you.'

When they got to Customs, she let the priest go ahead of her.
The official asked, 'Father, do you have anything to declare?'

'From the top of my head down to my waist, I have nothing to declare.'

The official thought this answer strange, so asked,
'And what do you have to declare from your waist to the floor?'

'I have a marvellous instrument designed to be used on a woman,
But which is, to date, unused.'

Roaring with laughter, the official said, 'Go ahead, Father... Next!'

VV calling Lil's friends (Jun 20, 2008)
Hi all and sorry for the late call.

We've just had a phone call from Dad. Apparently mum was rushed into hospital at approximately 4.00pm today. It appears she may have a problem with her appendix.

Dad has only just got home and has only just called us because he didn't take his mobile phone with him to the hospital so he couldn't let anyone know what was going on.

I have just spoken to mum on the phone at the hospital. She is as high as a kite on painkillers and on a drip. She is booked in for an ultra sound tomorrow at some point, but she has already signed the papers in case she needs an operation.

I will find out more tomorrow and will let you know any further updates as and when they happen.

All my love.

VV tries to figure out what she will do with her life (Jun 9, 2008)
Well. Update.

Not really an update, more of a ramble about the options ahead of me.

1. Stay with my sister and put an extension on the house.

2. Move in with mum and dad and perhaps get a bigger place.

3. Get a place with my Aunt.

4. Move abroad.

I spoke with my mum last night about one of the possibilities. I've spoken to her a lot over the last couple of months, just trying to see what my options are.

I'm not going to do anything drastic and certainly not at the moment, but I am leaning towards the option of moving abroad. I could get a sponsor in Oz but do I really want to move that far away? Not sure yet.

The other options was to move to Bahrain. I have family there, but as my mum pointed out, I would be very restricted in what I could do and where I could go, so I think thats out of the question.

I don't think, to be honest, that I could stay with my sister or even move back with mum, on a permanent basis. My Aunt seems to like her independence, so I don't even think that's an option.

You see, I don't want to be on my own. I like having company even if I don't say much. Just that person in the same room makes the room full of life even if we're just vegged out in front of the TV.

I think I need to do a lot more thinking.

VV becomes a shadow (May 23, 2008)
Well. It's not what you think.

VV will very shortly be back on the road!! biker cool

I have purchased a Honda Shadow 750cc motorcycle. It's in the process of being registered with the DVLA and once that is done the people I have bought it from will be able to give me a collection date. I won't be riding it home. Brother in law is going to ride it back for me. I think it is safer this way.

The insurance is good too! Fully Comp I got it for £260.00. This is good considering that I haven't had a bike for over 3 years now so no "no claims" to carry over.

Perhaps VV is getting her way back to normality!
